Information : SPC Training Program
Harris has an extensive SPC internal training program that is used by process technicians and engineers to develop awareness and skills in SPC techniques. Process technicians are required to participate in beginning 16-hour SPC training courses, but often go to intermediate and other advanced courses as their process teams determine what additional SPC skills are needed to facilitate their process improvement efforts. Following training, process operators are often authorized to perform pre-identified corrective actions, or shut down the equipment or process if it is out of control.
Engineering personnel typically participate in the basic SPC courses as well as Capability Evaluation, Measurement of Equipment Evaluation, and Design of Experiments (DOE) courses. The training area is set up with computer workstations for the students to practice using the SPC tools. Employees successfully completing the course-work and related project are awarded a certificate in recognition of their efforts.
