Information : Supplier Partnership Program
Like many leading companies, Litton Guidance and Control Systems Division (GCSD) has an effective supplier partnership program (SPP) which improves product quality and efficiency, develops teamwork with suppliers, eliminates duplication of effort, and lowers cost. However, there are several features of Litton GCSD’s SPP. For example, in addition to meeting Litton’s criteria for qualifying for SPP, GCSD focuses on the supplier’s individual part numbers and processes. The company is aggressively developing 100 parts-per-million (PPM) partners and part numbers for integrated circuits. They also make effective use of the Litton group purchasing agreement (GPA) to improve partnership opportunities. The GPA harnesses corporate buying power to allow leveraged buys without sacrificing quality. This effort requires effective communication with other Litton divisions to assure selections are based on quality.
As in other areas, an effective metric system has been established to measure SPP performance. The measurement system has been used to improve performance and identify and eliminate sources of bad parts. Growth actions in process for SPP include developing additional distributors as partners, increasing qualifying part numbers from existing partners, and focusing on mechanical suppliers.
