Information : User Facilities
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) provides accessibility of some of its facilities to industry and academic institutions that need access to sophisticated fabrication, calibration, and testing equipment. Users have the opportunity to conduct hands-on research and development activities for producing a product prototype or for developing or evaluating a novel technology or process. Currently, LLNL offers three user facilities: Livermore Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Productivity (LCAMP); Livermore User Facility for Inspection and Characterization; and Virtual Laboratory Testbed.
LCAMP facility houses a variety of equipment such as advanced lathes; grinders; diamond-turning machines; and measuring and inspection devices. LCAMP's users have access to specialized on-site services and facilities that were previously only available to LLNL’s internal manufacturing program. Services and facilities include plastics processing, heat treating, high-precision cutter grinding, machine tool services, sheet metal shop, metal finishing, modeling, and welding.
LLNL offers its user facilities on a full-cost recovery basis. In addition, the Laboratory uses a streamlined process to facilitate the application, review, and scheduling processes.
