Information : Logistics Support Analysis Program
Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems (LMTAS) has effectively developed a team process with the latest software technology for communicating and sharing information necessary to execute a successful Logistics Support Analysis program in the post Mil-Std-1388 environment. Bringing together all parties who share, need, and/or access specific data and streamlining the traditional Mil-Std tasks has reduced effort and has eliminated duplication throughout the organization. This approach has reduced costs while providing a quality product that meets the needs of all the users and the customer. Customers, suppliers, and partners, regardless of location, are electronically linked to a common database and toolset for performance of tasks. Analysis tools are integrated with the database to provide a user-friendly interface and to ensure that integrity and configuration control of information is maintained as data is created, updated, and released. Tasks are optimized to provide design influence and to develop support products to meet customer requirements. Maximum use is made of existing design and analysis data.
By applying these practices, LMTAS has seen a significant reduction in costs to manage the Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) program. The number of subtasks performed has been reduced and data elements have been eliminated for each LSA candidate. Customer affordability, as well as LMTAS efficiency, has been increased through early design improvement identification. This LSA process is applicable to any weapon system program.
