The Naval Aviation Depot (NADEP), Jacksonville Communication Services department provides all forms of video and graphics for the Center. Its predominant services include a Video Teleconferencing Center (VTC), Closed Circuit Television (CCT) network, photography, graphics, and contractual services to other Department of Defense (DoD) activities. (The Communications Services department can compete its services to other DoD activities in accordance with the Category 2 Production Authorization Act.)
The VTC is part of the Defense Communications Network that allows video conferencing with more than 180 DoD Studios as well as a gateway to contractor's VTC studios. The NADEP, Jacksonville studio has an almost 100% usage rate. Conservative estimates indicate a 15% reduction in travel directly attributed to the video teleconferencing capability. Plans include increasing this capability with a larger studio in the near future.
The CCT network operates on three channels and 140 monitors located throughout the NADEP, Jacksonville complex. This network has proved to be the most effective and most popular communications tool used to inform Depot personnel. For example, the CCT provides emergency broadcasting, safety messages, environmental awareness messages, training, news information during lunch time, job announcements, corporate messages, and poster messages. A unique program includes a weekly news program that addresses current events, items of interest, and opportunities for employees to address the Commanding Officer via the CO's call box. This program has provided the bridge between management and the work force to resolve mutual concerns.
Highly professional photography and graphic services are available to anyone. Regular customers include the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Office, Public Affairs, Environmental, Production, Engineering, Recruiting, and Marketing Departments.
The Communications Services department provides a highly professional service with creative and innovative ideas, supported with necessary talent and capability, used by the employees, and strongly supported by the top management at NADEP, Jacksonville.
