Information : Accident Prevention Key Points Cards
Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems implemented an Accident Prevention Key Points Card system to provide a framework for supervisors to assess personnel hazards, to document personal protective equipment needs for various occupations, and to provide training.
Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems (NGES) implemented an Accident Prevention Key Points Card system as part of its process to assess personnel hazards and the need for personal protective equipment (PPE), to provide training on required PPE, and to document the training. The Key Points Card system provides supervisors with a straightforward tool to keep supervisors on track in this essential process. The process begins with an analysis of each occupation in the work area and is followed by a PPE hazard assessment for each occupation. The assessment and PPE information are transferred to the Key Points Cards and provided to the Site Safety Representative for review. Supervisors review the Key Points Cards on induction and semi-annually with employees, who then sign the back of the card to document their training.
NGES uses a computer-based key points training system for engineers. This training covers all core safety areas such as eye and face protection and safety shoe requirements. In 2004, NGES boasted a safety record of 0.7 OSHA- recordable injuries per 100 employees.
