Information : Professional Development Community Service Program
Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems instituted a Community Service Program that enables its Leadership Training Program members to gain experience in leadership roles.
Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems (NGES) instituted a Community Service Program (CSP) that provides a structure for its Professional Development Program (PDP) and Leadership Training Program (LTP) members to serve as volunteers. The CSP consists of five separate programs, with a central organization for volunteering. One of the programs informs students of the realities of life and what they need to succeed in the real world; another program exposes students to careers in engineering and encourages interest in science, mathematics, and technology. A mentor program for students at Maryland City Elementary School in grades three through five is another example of the CSP in which tutoring is tailored to individual student needs.
Achievement Via Individual Determination at North County High School is a program that assists students “in the middle” to prepare for eligibility to four-year colleges and universities. The remaining program is a Junior Achievement Program that helps students apply academic standards in mathematics, civics, social studies, language arts, and technology to real-life roles as citizens of a mini-town.
NGES’ CSP is developed, staffed, implemented, and managed by PDP and LTP volunteers. This enables LTP participants to hold leadership positions and prepares these future NGES leaders for community roles and expectations.
