Information : Supplier Improvement Initiatives
Northrop Grumman’s Supplier Improvement Initiatives provide more effective communications within the company and with representatives located at supplier sites. Internally, Northrop Grumman is installing legacy computing systems for supplier data and information, and integrating these into a common database. This common database provides more effective analysis and correlation for various types of data which currently exist in separate systems. In addition, the database enables the company to access more useful data and information for making decisions and setting priorities, as well as achieve ease of integration into production and design systems. A key feature is the Procurement Information Gathering System. On-site representatives are able to transmit and receive near real-time data and information on supplier performance via laptop or personal computer modems. This feature, currently being piloted at two supplier sites, provides on-site representatives with specific part number data and information; contractual requirements; and part status. The new system enables Northrop Grumman to manage its supplier performance more proactively.
