Survey Summary
MagneTek Defense Systems (MDS) (now Power Paragon, Inc.) is located in Anaheim, California. With over 200,000 square feet, MDS employs 600 personnel in the design, manufacture, and marketing of electrical and electronic power equipment and technology for the defense industry. Manufacturing capabilities include fabrication, assembly, and test of magnetic components and systems, welding and sheet metal, and PWAs. In addition, MDS has extensive capabilities and facilities for engineering and production testing to meet military specification requirements.
The MDS product line includes:
High reliability systems applications ranging from mobile shelter frequency converters and rectifiers to shipboard degaussing systems; static inverters and converters for military aircraft, naval vessels, and mobile vehicles; equipment for generation and distribution of all types of military electrical power for data acquisition and electrical control systems; power conversion equipment for the AEGIS weapon system.
Ground based products including inverters and converters for use in unmanned air vehicles and command shelters; radar site generator sets and distribution equipment for battle tank use.
Accelerometers, frequency converters, inverters, rectifiers, sensors, and transducers for aviation applications.
AC and DC motor drives; adjustable speed drives; degaussing power supplies; frequency converters; generators; line power conditioners; power distribution systems; and sonar power supplies for surface ship applications. Similar products are available for submarine use.
MDS follows a business strategy in which programs are selected based on market needs. Emphasis is placed on internally funded research and development program to ensure high product performance and quality, efficient product producibility, and consistent cost improvement. They focus on customer satisfaction and provide a fill spectrum of support services, including total integrated logistics support, training, field service, and depot repair capability.
