Information : Manufacturing Planning Systems
Semiconductor Planning System (SPS) uses three subsystems to optimize marketing requirements with manufacturing utilization -- Weekly Operating Plan (WOP), Chip Operating Plan (COP), and Autoscheduling (SCAS).
WOP ensures products are manufactured based on customer priorities. It determines which factory can build the product, generates 13 week assembly start plans, calculates residual capacity, determines chip requirements, matches worldwide supply and demand, and generates capacity consolidation groupings. The COP performs the same functions as the WOP for chips plus allocation of commitments and chip disposition and shipping instructions. SCAS automatically schedules production requirements to meet the demands.
These systems have significantly improved productivity and quality by reducing planning cycle times and eliminating errors and waste.
