Texas Instrument/Semiconductor Group/Military Products (TI/SG/MP) extensively uses another Semiconductor Business Systems (SBS) subsystem that is frequently accessed by other information systems applications. The Product Data Base (PDB) is a low-cost central repository for product data on every product sold by TI/SG/MP worldwide.
The system capabilities include on-line data entry and update, large data volumes for reporting, and standard subroutines for automatic data exchange. PDB allows customers use of their own nomenclature when ordering TI/SG/MP products. It also provides a product reorganization capability to align with business reorganizations. The system is extensively used with more than 326,000 transactions processed monthly.
