4.16 Breadboard Development
The breadboard is a device used to determine the feasibility of a design
and to develop technical data (TD) for a component. Breadboard development is
a low cost method for developing, testing, verifying documentation, and
verifying and validating test concepts to ensure that the design is compliant
and meets all requirements. The design process for a breadboard should ensure
both performance and producibility considerations for packaging of components.
For electronic components, factors such as envelope clearances, package
density, predicted versus actual weight, tooling, and power access are equally
as important as component and circuit design considerations in reducing
transition and product risk.
