Fundamentals Of Process Baselining
Even when dealing with new technology, most of the technical
processes which may pose risks in your program are, for the most part, not
complete unknowns. Many of the "best practices" associated with these processes
have been identified, documented, and are available to serve as benchmarks
against which you can later compare your program's baseline processes and
outcomes. First, though, you must examine your program's specific
technical requirements in order to determine your own baseline processes.
The materials highlighted below under Step 2A are excellent
sources of information on known best practices, sometimes referred to
collectively in this book as the benchmark database. You can find out
how to order these documents (many are free) by consulting the Resources
Section in Appendix G.
