As was discussed in 2.2
and 2.3 , maintainability is affected by many other related functions, such as manufacturing, human engineering, and so forth. Maintainability, in turn, affects these and other functions. The interrelationships among maintainability and other functions make it essential to develop a maintainability program that is integrated with the overall product development program. The benefits of an integrated program is the maximum use of data from each analysis and test, the elimination of duplicative efforts, and a focus on overall product performance rather than on optimizing any one characteristic.
