Figure 5-3 (see page 30) depicts the amount of documentation detail
required for a project of the size of the P-3 Update IV project. The documents
shown are only the cable books! This project, as well as many other similar
projects involving a large number of cables and cable types, increases the
potential for E3 control
Specific problems associated with cabling should be documented during the
project by describing examples of situations where E3 control
requirements were not met. When the system works properly, no problems occur
and there is nothing out of the ordinary to report.
By documenting experiences of previous problems encountered, along with the
solutions that were applied, lessons-learned will be available for preventing
a repeat of the situations leading to the same problem in later designs. The
following case studies have affected the design of the P-3 Update IV program
and are shared for consideration by others potentially faced with the same
situation, and therefore the potential for a similar problem. Each is
presented anecdotally as a "lesson-learned."
