This section provides guidelines for designing,
verifying and manufacturing Modified COTS/NDI and Custom low voltage power
supplies. The focus of this section is directed toward understanding the
relationship between selecting the topology, developing hardware and
manufacturing power supplies compliant with the power system
architecture. This understanding is necessary to determine best value,
i.e., lowest price versus maximum performance. The development of low
voltage power supplies to provide various power conversion functions has
evolved from utilization of discrete components to high density modules.
This section addresses both discrete component and modular topologies.
