Separator are made of microporous plastic,
microporous rubber, or absorptive glass mat (AGM). They separate and insulate
positive and negative plates from each other in a cell. Because of their
physical properties (electrical resistance, wettability, thickness),
separators can significantly affect cell performance.
- Thickness (overall, backweb, rib)
- Basis weight-AGM types.
Periodic or Vendor Checks:
- Electrical resistance
- Oxidation resistance
- Mechanical strength upon aging
- Electrochemical compatibility
- Wicking capability-AGM types
