Zinc anode cells have a discharge voltage between 1.5
and 0.9 V. Mercury/cadmium cells operate at a lower voltage of 0.9 to 0.6 V.
The discharge profiles of these batteries also have different characteristics.
Conventional carbon/zinc and alkaline-MnO2 cells have sloping
cells have less of a slope. Silver/zinc, zinc/air,
mercury/zinc, and mercury/cadmium cells have relatively flat voltage profiles.
The flatter the system discharge curve, the better the voltage
