Increases in plant productivity provide the potential for lower costs for product manufacture, and enhance a contractor's competitive position in the market place. The introduction of new manufacturing equipment and processes on the factory floor has the potential for dramatic increases in productivity. However, costly disruptions on the production line, as new manufacturing techniques are introduced in the factory, often reduce or eliminate anticipated gains in productivity. "Off-line" evaluation of new manufacturing techniques, and "off-line" worker retraining will significantly reduce those costly disruptions. A productivity center provides such an "off-line" capability.
