TEMPERATURE RATE OF CHANGE VS. SCREENING EFFECTIVENESS
The effectiveness of any TCSS is a function of various parameters that
comprise the thermal cycling screen. The rate of temperature change has the
most significant effect on the screen and is best evaluated when all other
parameters are held constant. For example, changing the higher indenture level
screening from 5oC/minute to 15oC/minute on radar
equipment in production resulted in the reduction of higher level in-house
test failures by 25 percent.
