The engineering/manufacturing tester interface has been developed by the Communications Systems Division of Hughes GSG for implementation of a concurrent engineering environment and as a result, increase productivity. Test vectors and circuit connectivity information are extracted from the CAD simulation database and electronically downloaded to the manufacturing test system. This interface facilitates the automatic generation of functional test programs during the design phase, thus significantly reducing the time required to develop a production test.
In addition to integrating the test functions to eliminate overlap, this system improves the accuracy of the testing by using advanced methods of analysis. Most notably, the tester interface recognizes inherent, important differences in capability and potential problems between the theoretical performance (the simulation) and the actual results from a circuit under test.
