The TRIMS database can be viewed as a two-part body of information. The first is the set of Categories, Templates, and Questions described above. This part of the database and its usage constitute the software package.
The second part consists of documents, contained in the KnowHow Database, and best practices contained in the BMP Database. This part of the database is in electronic form and can be accessed directly from TRIMS. The KnowHow documents can be any item of a body of knowledge—standards, instructions, guidelines, manuals, specifications, or other supporting or clarifying documents—that would be useful to analysts concerning processes and practices. For the I&I effort, it will be necessary to develop a new KnowHow Database that reflects the specific knowledge of the I&I field.
