A representative from the Best Manufacturing Practices (BMP) Program and Center of Excellence (COE) was among attendees at the Parts Standardization and Management Committee (PSMC) Conference from November 14-16, 2006 at the Westward Look Resort in Tucson, Arizona. Approximately 45 government and industry representatives met during this semiannual event that was jointly attended by the Parts Management Reengineering Implementation Process Team (PMRIPT) and the PSMC to discuss parts management and standardization issues. The PSMC was recently chartered by the Defense Standardization Program Office (DSPO). The new charter was discussed at the conference, along with the PSMC's role in supporting the PMRIPT's efforts to reengineer the Department of Defense (DoD) Parts Management Program. PSMC's mission is to foster standardization by promoting commonality of parts and processes to increase interoperability, improve logistic readiness and reduce total ownership costs, and move toward standardization of commercial and industrial parts. BMP's participation in this event represents the Center's support of sharing best practices and resources in support of the DoD.
