The Association of Old Crows (AOC) recently
honored John E. Hawkins, Manager of Intelligence Systems for the Best Manufacturing
Practices (BMP) Program, with a 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award. Hawkins
has been a member of the AOC for 26 years, but his distinguished career
in electronic warfare spans more than 40 years. During the Viet Nam War,
Hawkins flew 121 electronic combat missions, including more than 900 flights
hours in support of Military Assistance Command Vietnam (MACV) programs.
He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for action in a hostile fire
zone related to electronic intelligence (Elint) and intelligence operations.
Hawkins has served four terms as president of the Chesapeake Bay Chapter
of the AOC, two terms as treasurer, and several terms in other capacities.
He has also supported the past 15 AOC annual conventions as a volunteer
speaker and protocol director. In his current capacity as BMP Manager of
Intelligence Systems, Hawkins serves as the point of contact between the
organization and various intelligence agencies.
