A representative from the Best Manufacturing
Practices (BMP) Program and Center of Excellence (COE) was among attendees
at the Symposium on Avoiding, Detecting, and Preventing Counterfeit Electronic
Parts sponsored by the Center for Advanced Life Cycle Engineering (CALCE)
November 7-8, 2007 at the University of Maryland’s Samuel Riggs Alumni
Center in College Park. Approximately 80 representatives from government,
industry and academia were present to hear speakers discuss topics regarding
counterfeit electronic parts. CALCE’s mission is to develop scientifically
based innovative methodologies that decrease life-cycle risks for the next
generation of electronic products and systems and to provide an educational
and technology transfer infrastructure for their rapid dissemination and
utilization. BMP’s participation in this event represents the Center’s
support of sharing best practices and resources in support of the DoD.
