A representative from the Best Manufacturing Practices (BMP) Program and Center of Excellence (COE) was among attendees at the Joint Parts Standardization and Management Committee (PSMC) Conference and DoD Parts Management Reengineering Implementation Process Team Meeting sponsored by the Defense Standardization Program Office (DSPO) October 23- 25, 2007 at the Bristol Hotel in San Diego, California. Approximately 25 government and industry representatives met to discuss to discuss parts management and standardization issues and initiatives. The mission of the PSMC is to foster standardization by promoting commonality of parts and processes to increase interoperability, improve logistic readiness and reduce total ownership costs, and move toward standardization of commercial and industrial parts. BMP’s participation in this event represents the Center’s support of sharing best practices and resources in support of the DoD.
