Raytheon’s Network Centric Systems (NCS) Manufacturing Center in Largo, Florida, was presented the Best Manufacturing Practices (BMP) Award for Excellence at a ceremony on February 23, 2007. The BMP Award for Excellence honors those organizations that are willing to share the processes they do well with the U.S. industrial base by hosting a BMP Survey. BMP Surveys validate and publish best practices used in industry, government, and academia, emphasizing the value of best practices for benchmarking and problem solving while bringing visibility to hosting organizations such as Raytheon-Largo.
A 12-member team of BMP subject matter experts spent five days reviewing, validating, and documenting 45 of the facility’s processes, 30 of which were classified as best practices. Raytheon’s NCS Largo facility designs, develops, manufactures, and supports products, systems, and software that provide critical command, control, and communications capabilities for land, sea, air, and space applications including antennas, radios, cables, and vehicle integration parts. Key products produced for the Navy by the highly skilled NCS-Largo manufacturing team include ARC-164, ARC-187, MUST, VIPR, CTT, HDR, CEC, TACTOM cables, APX-100, and APX-119.
Congratulations to Raytheon’s NCS Manufacturing Center for winning the 2007 BMP Award for Excellence and for sharing their best practices with the U.S. industrial base!.
